Brain Products GmbH is looking for a scientist to join us as a Scientific Consultant in the marketing team. Strategic marketing monitors the developments in science, develops strategies and solutions for our current markets and upcoming research fields. We work with key customers, scientific partners, and companies to initiate cooperations and projects. To expand into the growing field of Mobile Brain/Body Imaging (MoBI), we are searching an experienced scientist from this field. The scientist must have carried out his main activities (work/study) in Germany for no more than 12 months in the last three years.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

  • You will have a strong background in EEG research and experience with Mobile Brain/Body Imaging (MoBI), passive BCI, or real time monitoring of Brain States.
  • A PhD degree in a relevant field of neurosciences, psychology, psychophysiology, engineering or a related field is required. So is a current focus on Mobile Brain/Body Imaging, passive BCI, real time monitoring of Brain States or wearable EEG technology.
  • Marketing skills or a talent for marketing is a big plus.
  • You should have expertise in conducting, analyzing and publishing scientific experiments. You should have experience with real-time EEG analysis, machine learning or multimodal data analysis. Ideally you are a user of our hard- and software solutions. If you have experience in writing and managing grants this is also a plus.
  • You need to be comfortable to working in a team, interacting with other teams and working with researchers. But you should also be confident in your capacity to take initiative and work independently
  • You should possess excellent communication skills; specifically, you should enjoy frequent interaction with colleagues and researchers. Fluent written and spoken scientific English – proficiency in German will be seen as a plus, but is not a requirement.
  • You should be willing to travel up to 20 % of your time.

YOUR TASKS WILL BE RICH IN VARIETY AND INCLUDE

  • Observe and analyze scientific trends and market developments in the field mentioned above (MoBI, passive BCI, real time monitoring of Brain States and wearable EEG technology) and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge on these themes.
  • Produce reports and talks on your findings and on your project.
  • Select the relevant information from the field and make this information available within Brain Products. To be the leading solution provider for the research EEG field, we have to anticipate what researchers will want to do in 2-3 years. This way, we have time to design, develop and produce the devices and hardware that will be needed by researchers to do cutting edge research. Your input will help to guide this process.
  • Coordinate collaborations and projects with key customers, existing and new partner companies. Brain Products is a leading provider of solutions for the above mentioned research fields. The goals of the activities are to improve our solutions and to advance our position on the market.
  • Worldwide travel to talk to researchers and other companies. Attending conferences (e.g. SfN, SPR, HBM, CNS, HCI). Represent Brain Products to project partners and at conferences.
  • You should be willing to travel up to 20 % of your time.

  • You have an excellent academic degree (preferably a PhD) in a field of neurosciences, psychology, physics, biophysics, biomedical technology, or related field.
  • You are passionate about EEG research. You have demonstrated broad practical expertise in recording and analysing human EEG data, preferably by using Brain Products hard- and software solutions. Strong background in EEG/fMRI will be particularly favoured.
  • You are able to convince others through your written or spoken communications in English, including the ability to communicate complex scientific topics to different target audiences.
  • You are an experienced teacher or presenter.
  • You are confident, enthusiastic, and mobile.
  • You are ready to travel for up 25% of your work time.
  • You may have the opportunity to join a Brain Products subsidiary in the future. Therefore, the ideal candidate is open to relocation

The Scientific Support team helps our end users in their pursuit of optimal data analysis. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

YOUR PROFILE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic degree in a relevant field of Neurosciences, Psychology, Physics, Biophysics, Biomedical Technology or a related field
  • Experience in setting up, running or supervising EEG experiments in research studies
  • Signal processing knowledge and experience in analyzing EEG data
  • A strong solution-oriented problem solving approach
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (in English)
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to audiences of mixed abilities
  • Motivation to help users from diverse backgrounds, combined with perseverance to investigate problems of unclear origin
