In 1997 the first version of BrainVision Analyzer was released. Within the last 10 years, hundreds of new functions have been added and supported – for free. Possibilities increased significantly but stability remained the same. Although we could have added new functions to the existing program again, two years ago we have decided to reprogram the complete software package from scratch in .NET, a future oriented platform which ensures once again stability, expansion possibilities and quality management for the next years to come. Our public Beta testing phase will start in January, immediately after internal beta-testing is finalized and will then be followed by the preparation of the final release. Afterwards we will resume our normal cycle of speedily providing you with updates, upgrades and patches as they become available. The alphabetical feature list below demonstrates the main enhancements:

3D View: Different types and shapes of rotatable heads using fast DirectX methods.

AddIns: Add high-performance custom abilities to the Analyzer easily by programming AddIns in any .NET language.

Change Sampling Rate: Vastly improved performance.

Data Cache: New caching mechanisms for storing data in history nodes or temporary files.

Edit Channels: Additional properties such as individual color/channel.

Edit Markers: Improved interactive editing mode with undo and redo of marker editing operations. Rule-based automatic editing will process large numbers of markers easily. User defined Range Markers implemented. Templates now support marker editing.

ERS/ERD: Methods to calculate event related synchronization and de-synchronization.

Filter: New graphical display of filtering functions/effects.

Flexible Overlays: Analyzer Views now accept overlays of EEG Data with different length or sampling rate.

Generic Data Import: Import Function with data preview.

History Node List and Tabbed views: Quick and easy navigation between views even in large studies.

History Tree - Editable Parameters: Transformation param-eters can be changed interactively in existing nodes. Following nodes will be reprocessed according to the edited input parameters. On demand, a new parallel tree can be created. Old procedure still available.

ICA: Faster ICA algorithms, probabilistic ICA, semiautomatic Views for selection of components.

Inverse FFT: Invertible FFT for implementation of filtering methods in frequency domain.

LORETA: Source localization, processing of source data in Analyzer.

Marker: Marker concept completely re-developed for vastly increased performance even with > 50000 markers/data file.

Montage Editor: Graphical Interface with drag&drop function to create montages.

MRI Artifact Correction – Pulse artifact correction: New algorithms added, new views in semiautomatic mode.

Multiple Transient Views: Open as many transient views as needed and dock them freely within the view window.

New View Concept: New Types of view such as butterfly view, time-frequency grid views, paired channel view and 3D view. Views can be configured individually (XML format), View designer for publishable artwork in preparation. 3D View with different loadable heads.

Ocular correction: ICA algorithm added including semiautomatic views (topographical maps, corrected/original data). New improved blink detection algorithm.

PCA: New views, new implementation.

Peak Detection: New view, new overlays.

Realtime MATLAB ® interaction: Interface to use MATLAB/EEGLab functions in transformations and templates. Smooth forward/backward transfer of all dataset components and properties with automated node/template generation.

Ribbons: MS Office-like menu structure for easier access of functions.

Segmentation: ABE extended to make use of all new user properties.

Suspended Nodes: Interruption of interactive processing supported (Raw data inspection, marker edit, etc.), store current node state and resume work another time.
Switch View: Open a different view in same window.

Tools in Views: Lockable Tools like maps, scaling bars, zoom in Views.

Topographic Interpolation: Additional channels added by topographic interpolation, for example to replace bad channels or compare datasets with different sets of channels.

Undelete Nodes: Every mistakenly deleted node can be restored without undo-limitations even after restarting the Analyzer software.

Unicode: All menus available in Asian operating systems.

User Interface: Completely reworked user interface for easier handling, selecting and information access. Dockable windows for individual configuration.

User Properties: Definable properties in Datasets, Channels and Markers (string, float, integer, Boolean, data arrays).
